US envoy to UN warns spreading of Ukraine war is unacceptable

The United ​States ambassador to the United ​Nations, ‌Mike ⁠Waltz, has condemned «in ‌the strongest terms any ⁠attempts to broaden the ​war» in ‌Ukraine at a meeting ‌of the ​UN Security Council.

He added ​that ​spreading of ​the Ukraine ​conflict was dangerous and unacceptable.

Lavrov tells UN Security Council Russia will not ‘pause’ Ukraine war

Moscow will not «pause» its more than four-year war against Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the UN Security Council.

«We are not going to have a pause in our special military operation,» Lavrov said, accusing Europe of wanting to use a halt to the fighting to «pump the Kyiv regime with weapons».

Lavrov and Rubio discussed bilateral ties and international agenda, Russia says

⁠Russian Foreign ​Minister Sergei Lavrov ​and US Secretary of State Marco ​Rubio ‌discussed a ⁠wide range of ‌issues on the bilateral ⁠and international agenda at a meeting ​on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the ‌Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Lavrov and ‌Rubio discussed situations ​in several regions, including Ukraine and the Middle ​East.

The ministry said ​Lavrov emphasised ​the need to ​restore bilateral relations as soon as possible, while the ⁠two sides agreed to continue ⁠discussions.

Iran communicated conditions for revival of diplomacy to US, foreign ministry says

⁠Iran conveyed ​its conditions for reviving ​diplomacy to the US in a two-hour-long exchange of messages ​through ‌a mediator ⁠on the sidelines of the ‌UN General Assembly on Tuesday, ⁠Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on ​X.

Conditions ‌conveyed through a Qatari mediator included accepting the safe ‌route in the Strait of ​Hormuz on which understanding between the two coastal countries has ​been reached, the end of ​US action against ​Iran including economic «terrorism» and naval blockade, ​the release of frozen assets and the ending the war on all fronts, he said.

Argentina’s Milei tells the UN it is a ‘useless organisation’

Argentina’s right-wing libertarian President Javier Milei attacked the United Nations in a speech to the world body on Wednesday, calling it a «useless organisation» that feeds a «caste of fatally arrogant parasites».

Milei, one of US President Donald Trump’s closest Latin American allies, also accused the United Nations of committing «genocide» in its handling of the Covid pandemic.
